TAMPA, Fla. – The Atlanta Falcons secured the NFC South’s top spot Sunday with a 31-26 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. The victory marked their second of the season over Tampa Bay, following a 36-30 overtime showdown in Atlanta on Oct. 3.
Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins ended the game with a total of 276 passing yards and four touchdowns, ESPN reported. He connected with tight end Kyle Pitts on scoring plays of 36 and 49 yards, with wide receiver Darnell Mooney adding a 30-yard reception, and running back Bijan Robinson finding the end zone on a 6-yard run.
For Tampa Bay, tight end Cade Otton caught touchdown passes of 5 and 4 yards, while running back Rachaad White added an 18-yard catch. The Bucs’ final points came on a safety after Cousins fumbled in his own end zone. Quarterback Baker Mayfield closed with 330 yards and three touchdowns.
“The Falcons improved to 4-0 within the NFC South and, with the head-to-head tiebreaker advantage over second-place Tampa Bay, essentially hold a two-game lead in the division standings,” ESPN noted.
